Contact & enrol
You have read the curriculum and the earning path. This page is the last step. Book a call, send the form, or just email us a question. We answer every message ourselves — there is no sales team here.
Book a free 15-minute fit call
A fit call is a short, honest conversation. No slides, no pressure. To book one, email hello@shipandearn.academy with the subject line "Fit call" and two or three times that suit you. We hold calls Tuesday to Thursday, 08:00–20:00 Pacific.
What we will ask you
- What have you built so far, even if it is one page from a tutorial?
- How many hours a week can you honestly protect? We plan around 8, not 40.
- What does "earning" mean to you — 200 dollars once, or 600 a month by summer?
- Do you have school or exam dates that will eat three weeks of the cohort?
What you get out of it
- A straight answer on whether the next cohort is right for you, or whether you should do six more weeks of free practice first.
- A one-page week-by-week plan for your own hours, emailed after the call.
- A price, including any student discount, with nothing hidden behind a deposit.
- Two specific things to build before the cohort starts, if you enrol.
We say "not yet" to roughly one in five callers. Usually that means you need a working laptop, or you have two hours a week and the cohort needs eight. We will tell you what to change and invite you to the following intake.
Enquiry form
Five fields. Takes about a minute. We read every one and reply with a real answer, not a brochure.
Next two intakes
Each cohort runs 12 weeks and caps at 24 students, because code review takes real time. We close applications when the cap is met, which has happened early for the last three intakes.

What the 12 weeks look like
-
Weeks 1–4: build
HTML, CSS, layout, forms, and accessibility basics. You ship four small sites, one a week, and get written review on each.
-
Weeks 5–8: make it real
JavaScript for the things clients actually ask for. You rebuild one of your week 1–4 projects for a real person — a club, a relative, a local shop.
-
Weeks 9–12: earn
Pricing, quotes, scope, invoices, and a portfolio page that answers a buyer's questions. Most students send their first paid quote in week 10 or 11.
Payment plans, discounts, and refunds
The full cohort price is 690 US dollars. Here is every way to pay it, and the exact conditions.
-
Pay once
690 dollars up front. Nothing extra after that — no software costs, no textbook, no certificate fee.
-
Three instalments
3 × 240 dollars, due in weeks 1, 5 and 9. Total 720 dollars. The 30-dollar difference covers card fees, not interest.
-
Student rate
440 dollars with a valid school, college or university ID. Same cohort, same review, same cap. Email a photo of the ID with your enquiry.
-
Need-based seats
Four seats per cohort at 120 dollars, decided by a short written application. Ask us for the questions — there is no means-testing paperwork.
The refund window
You can ask for a full refund up to the end of week 2, for any reason, by one email. No exit interview. After week 2 we cannot refund, because your seat and your reviewer's hours are committed. If life genuinely derails you mid-cohort, we will move you to the next intake once, free.
I asked about the payment plan expecting a hard sell. They just told me the student rate existed and said to send my ID. That was it.

For teachers and club leaders
A group licence lets you run Ship & Earn with your own students, on your own timetable. Several high school CS clubs and two university societies use it as their spring programme.
- Minimum group
- 8 students
- Price per student
- 180 dollars
- Licence length
- 12 months
- Educator onboarding
- Two 60-min sessions
What is included
- Every lesson, exercise and project brief, as plain files you keep for the full 12 months.
- A teacher guide per week: what to demo, where students get stuck, and how to mark the project.
- Two live onboarding sessions with us before you start, plus email support through the term.
- One guest session from a former student who is now earning, on a date you pick.
- Rubrics you can map to coursework, and a printable skills checklist per student.
You do not need to be a developer to run it. Two of our licence holders teach maths and design. You do need to be comfortable saying "let's find out together" in front of a room.
Email hello@shipandearn.academy with the subject "Group licence", your school or club name, and roughly how many students. We will send the teacher guide for week 1 so you can judge the material before paying anything.

Phone lines are answered Monday to Thursday, 09:00–17:00 Pacific. Outside those hours, email is faster. The Oakland meetup is free, open to anyone considering the course, and happens on the first Saturday of each month — email us and we will send the address and what to bring.
Frequently asked questions
How old do I need to be?
16 or older to enrol on your own. From 14 to 15 you are welcome with a parent or guardian on the enrolment email, and we ask them to sit in on the fit call. There is no upper limit — our oldest student so far was 41, though the material is written for the 16–26 range and the examples reflect that.
What equipment do I need?
A laptop or desktop you can install a code editor on, running Windows, macOS or Linux, with at least 4 GB of RAM. A Chromebook in developer mode works but is harder; tell us and we will point you at the setup guide. A tablet or phone alone is not enough — you need a real keyboard and a real browser with developer tools. Internet fast enough for video calls helps, but every live session is recorded.
Do I need a computer science background?
No. Roughly 60 per cent of our students have never taken a CS class. What you do need is comfort with being confused for an hour before something clicks, and enough maths to handle percentages when you price a job. If you have a CS degree already, the first four weeks will feel slow — ask about the accelerated start.
What about time zones?
Live sessions run twice each week: 18:30 Pacific for the Americas and 08:00 Pacific for Europe, Africa and West Asia. You attend whichever suits you, and you can switch week to week. Both are recorded and posted within four hours. Code review is written, not live, so it never depends on your time zone. Students from 14 countries have finished a cohort this way.
Will I definitely earn money?
No, and anyone who promises that is selling you something. About two thirds of students who finish all 12 weeks earn their first money within three months of the end. The students who do not earn almost always stopped sending quotes. The course gives you the skills and the exact scripts; the sending is yours.
Can I pause mid-cohort?
Once, yes. Email us and we will hold your place for the next intake at no extra cost. Your project files and reviews stay available the whole time.
Still deciding? Start with the call.
Fifteen minutes, free, and we will tell you if the answer is no. Spring applications close on 21 February.
